Brunswick News is off to a slow start. If you happen onto this website, understand that is under construction and pre-release. We (one person) are basing the website on the Brunswick ALP branch website (brunswicklabor.org.au, not much longer for this world). While it contains traces of the ALP site but there is otherwise no connection with them. Except in the sense of the following paragraph.

We have a [https://www.facebook.com/brunswicklabor/ facebook] page too.

This site is offered as a virtual local paper to Brunswick. Anyone with a constructive approach is invited to post an article here, though they should do so under their own name. The next thing is that we hope to get a conversation going among other sources of online journalism. There are a few of these potentially - the real local papers, the local branches of political parties, the council itself and in particular any independent enterprises such as the Brunswick Residents Network.

This page is the "About us" page and it is a [https://www.mediawiki.org/ wiki] page. Our home page is [https://brunswicklabor.org.au/ https://brunswicklabor.org.au/], which is outside of the wiki. (It is a static page, based on a Wordpress website, and was copied of the website of a branch of a political party unrelated to us. We hope you don't mind, [https://edinburghwesternsnp.scot Edinburgh West Scottish Nationals].)

==History==

Brunswick Labor can trace its history to the days of the Progressive Political League (formed in 1891). Our area has been represented by Labor continuously since 1904, and has included Labor luminaries like [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Anstey Frank Anstey], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Blackburn Maurice Blackburn], Tom Roper and Bob Hawke. A while ago Brunswick Labor was represented in parliament by Kelvin Thomson (Federal) and Jane Garrett (State). Now it is Peter Khalil in Canberra and we have temporarily lent the state seat to the Greens.

==How to use this site==

The page you are looking at is a wiki page, like Wikipedia; most of this site consists of wiki pages and most pages require logging in with a password to get access. Members and friends of the branch should ask for a personal account by email (robert.durkacz@gmail.com), or consult the latest minutes for a generic password.

'''How to log in.'''

The wiki will take you to a log-in page when log-in is necessary. You must then supply a username and password. There is a generic username that any member may use; it is 'Member'. The password for Member is given in the regular meeting minutes and changes with each issue.

Brunswick News

Brunswick News is off to a slow start. If you happen onto this website, understand that is under construction and pre-release. We (one person) are basing the website on the Brunswick ALP branch website (brunswicklabor.org.au, not much longer for this world). While it contains traces of the ALP site but there is otherwise no connection with them. Except in the sense of the following paragraph.
