Hosken Reserve

Hosken Reserve is described on the Moreland council website as "a large park catering to active sports use with a playground and natural bush setting. The park has two competition level soccer fields and a training area and is regularly used by the neighbouring secondary college."

It is also regularly used by locals to get some fresh air. Moreland council has found itself in a controversy by tipping towards the sports use of the reserve over its use to the locals as a park and open space. As the Age reported a residents group formed to contest the council's plans to replace the grass of soccer ground with a form of plastic known as Astroturf, and in a subsequent report found merit in the resident group's claim that the council had not taken proper account of the residents' interests.
